"The little museum of Ludlow" will collect objects from members of the local community, artists and poets will collect stories around these objects and curate them into a collection that will be staged in the Museum and Library in Ludlow.
'Our' concept, i.e. that from Ash and myself, is around collecting memories from the community that we will 'curate' into a sound installation to be accessed via twitter [ @B3TTY_UK ] and the official Ludlow Fringe website - www.ludlowfringe.co.uk . I have previously created a sound sculpture [Sounds Invisible, London 2013] and have experienced the powerful imagery that sound installations can create. In Ludlow we will be collecting memories by engaging with the public using B3TTY our classic car within the main square. Thus our working title is B3TTY@LUDLOW.
Currently we are negotiating and agreeing our final proposal for when we are working at the festival and also creating 'business cards' for B3TTY to handout to the community and visitors to encourage interest in our project. We have had much positive feedback from the organisers which feels amazing right now. I think that we will be working in Ludlow the first weekend, Saturday and Sunday 13th and 14th June and return in the third week from Monday 29th June until Thursday 2nd July.
This collaboration feels exciting for many reasons:
-being part of a larger collaboration that is working with an art festival on the Welsh borders and yet being associated with other artists in London
-the very warm and positive response we have received from the organisers and Gill in the library
-not knowing anything about the memories we will collect
-not knowing how we will 'curate' them ... the result will inevitably feel surprising!
-exhibiting our work via the internet ... collected and curated locally, can be accessed globally (well maybe...) and exist indefinitely (?).
